Firedrake Slain
Beowulf Made Hero

By Tiffany

Yesterday was a great day, for most of us. Beowulf has slain a Firedrake by using his wits! We interviewed him and so here are some of his answers.

Tiffany = Why all the secrecy?
Beowulf = Well, I decided that my land of the Geats needed a normal hero, one that uses his weapons and strength instead of his wits.

T = Why did you decide to use your wits instead of muscle?
B = Because I remembered a story about a huge warrior and his little nephew.

T = Did you have any help?
B = Yes, my young friend Wiglaf helped me.

T = What did you do to conquer the Firedrake?
B = I brought a white wooden stake, which I used to stick the Firedrake's mouth open. I also brought a giant glove with a queen bee in it, and some of my hives. I threw the glove into the Firedrake's mouth and the queen bee came out of the glove and beckoned the rest of the bees to follow. Soon the Firedrake rolled over and died since the bees were stinging his insides.

T = Well, thank you for answering my questions.
B = You are quite welcome.
